A Social Network for millionaires

There have always been different classes, and hence the existence of golf clubs, gentleman clubs, and now an exclusive social network called Netropolitan, that charges $9000 to join in plus $3000 of yearly quotes. Logically rich people speak about their fortunes and yachts and are in need of their own exclusive space on the web.

This social network is an original idea of James Touchi-Peters, former director of the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra which has been considering the business model of this project for a couple of years. The top features of this invention besides its exclusive nature are the promise of being free of advertisement and foreigners. Stranger than fiction! Only pure American people can join in, and once accepted you have access to the full members’ list.

Knowing all these facts, the million dollar question is: Is this a real innovative idea or just another online swindle? According to the designer it is a completely legal business model that rises from the need of meeting people in your own social status and the only way to achieve this is by paying cash. One humble man he is!

Another shocking fact is that it took them 2 years to decide the charge to be applied for registration of new members. According to them, the figure should be high enough to avoid the regular people to try and join in. For wealthy people this charge would be like pocket money.

As well, they state that one out of 50 American citizens earns over 1 million dollars a year and we can consider them millionaires. But they are not the target audience, but the multi-millionaires as they believe that having such fortunes is a handicap when interacting in Social Networks. The bottom line is that Facebook is for poor people.

Last but not least, the designer James Touchi-Peters, assures that this model will work as this area is still to be exploited. The “very rich” ones are used to VIP treatment in everything they do in life (trips, concerts, shopping…) and this new Social Network is just another one in the list for them.

For the time being we will not use our savings to join this network, although if Victoria Secret’s models start joining we’ll reconsider this!
