After only 5 years of existence, this content platform now has more than 70 million users (with 80% of them between the ages of 19 and 39 years) who use social media for 14 minutes a day. If you’re still haven’t joined the social media or you just opened an account, here are 9 tips for taking on Pinterest.   1. Interact and keep an active presence Be active, following, commenting, liking other users content that you find interesting or different. For starters, it’s always easiest to get reciprocated follows by following pinners who don’t have a lot of followers.   2. Pick simple titles for your boards Although giving your boards unique and hip names may seem advantageous, it’s actually best to name them with intuitive and easy to find names.   3. Invite other users to post on your boards Another great option is to invite others to pin to your boards that way those pins increase the visibility of your board. And working in a group is always much more fun.   4. Keep Google in mind… Don’t forget to add keyword to boards, pins and descriptions. And the URL should always link back to your page.   5. Always use hashtags to tag your pins Use hashtags in the pin description and creating your own hashtags can be beneficial in case your page goes viral.   6. Create your own content Pinterest is a very demanding social media, with pictures of beautiful, elegant and well made things. Therefore it’s important that your content is as attractive as possible. Use Photoshop or another design program to help you be different. Generate new and original, high quality content.   7. Pick vertical photos Pinterest prefers vertical pictures to horizontal ones since they work better with the site’s design.   8. Repin often The essence of Pinterest is sharing pictures and videos constantly. Spend a bit each day repining, which should be easy because it’s addicting and time will fly.   9. Cite your sources In order to avoid copyright problem, always cite the source of the content you share or link to the site that you got an image or video. And you’ll be promoting the artists and creators and showing you value their work.   Main photo: Andrew Herashchenko
